March has been super exciting! Women In Film and TV Ohio hosted its first New Member/Meet and Greet event which took place on March 8, 2019, a day that just happened to fall on International Women’s Day. We were extremely grateful that a woman-owned business, The Cle Urban Winery, allowed us to utilize their facility for WIFT-OH’s celebration of our organization and women while making us feel super welcome.

WIFT-OH saw overwhelming support from women as close as Cleveland and as far away as Columbus Ohio, who all came together with one common interest, the increased representation and advancement of women in film, TV and other new media industries.

We want to thank everyone that attended, including the men who were curious and expressed their support for an organization that they were hearing about for the first time.

A special thank you to the beautiful women of Channel 19, WOIO, especially lead anchor Tiffani Tucker and reporters Brittany Bivins, Sara Goldenberg and Shannon Houser who supported our efforts by attending and praising the event.

March also saw changes to its Board of Directors. New Board members include Sara Willgrube who is the new Director of Membership, Bridget Messaros the new Director of Special Events and Megan Boundy who is the new Director of Development. We are pleased to have them aboard and know they are going to be a great asset to our organization.

March also has WIFT-OH partnering with the 43rd Annual Cleveland International Film Festival or CIFF. WIFT-OH is reviewing A Simple Wedding and will be working with the director of the film for questions and remarks.

As we say goodbye to March and hello to April WIFT-OH will be hosting its new speaker series called Reel Talk, with our first topic discussing copyright and trademarking laws and rights.

Stay tuned as we also have other events coming up soon. WIFT-OH will be working very hard to meet the needs of its members. If you have any suggestions on how we can accomplish this goal, please feel free to email us at wiftohio@gmail.com.
